What Data We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Name, email, organisation, role, and the content of your enquiry when you submit the form on our Contact page or email us directly.
  • Information you provide during a Discovery call, an AI Audit engagement, or an AI Advisory retainer.
  • Email address and organisation name if you subscribe to a Velinor briefing or thought-leadership communication.

Information collected automatically

  • Standard website analytics (pages visited, time on site, referrer) collected via Google Analytics.
  • Email engagement data (opens, clicks) for any communications you have subscribed to.
  • IP address and browser metadata for security and abuse prevention.

Publicly available data

  • The AI Blindspot Framework is calibrated against documented real-world AI failures drawn from public OSINT sources (regulator decisions, court rulings, established media). Where such cases reference named individuals acting in a public or senior capacity, those individuals may be referenced in our published methodology and case base. All such references are subject to editorial review and PII redaction processes published on aiblindspot.com.

How We Use Your Data

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange a Discovery conversation.
  • To deliver AI Audit and AI Advisory engagements you have commissioned.
  • To send you Velinor briefings or thought-leadership communications you have subscribed to.
  • To improve our website, the framework, and our services.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)

  • Consent: for newsletter and briefing subscriptions. You can withdraw at any time.
  • Contract: when you engage Velinor as a client, we process your data to deliver the contracted services.
  • Legitimate interest: we process publicly available information about AI incidents to maintain and publish the AI Blindspot Framework, having assessed that this processing does not override the rights of any individuals concerned, given the data is sourced from public-interest reporting and regulator publications.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf under appropriate written terms — for example, our email provider, CRM, or analytics platform.
  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting, insurance) where strictly necessary.
  • Regulators or law enforcement where required by law.

Data Retention

  • Enquiry data: retained for up to 24 months from last contact, then deleted unless you have become a client.
  • Client data: retained for the duration of the engagement plus 6 years (for accounting and legal purposes).
  • Subscription data: retained until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.
  • Website analytics: retained for 26 months.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase your data (subject to legal obligations).
  • Restrict our processing of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@velinor.io. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

Our site uses essential cookies and standard analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the site. We do not use advertising cookies. You can opt out via your browser settings.

Security

Velinor is Cyber Essentials certified. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted communications, access controls, and regular review of our security posture.
